Jun 26, 2018 · I keep looking at adventure bikes and finding 500 pound behemoths, many of which are way under powered. So... a WR450F is 45ish HP, pretty reliable and light weight for an adventure bike. (272 pounds with fuel.)

Sep 5, 2018 · Let's face it, the WR450F will not make the perfect adventure bike, you need the extra engine capacity. But if you want to ride gnarly trails, but also do the longer trips then these mods will give you a surprisingly capable bike with low maintenance intervals.

Jun 26, 2018 · It has about as much wind protection as any other dirt bike, so just the wind pressure and buffeting with get you long before the bike gives up. With the right tires , a better seat , and more wind protection, it would make a very good small moderate distance ADV bike.

Mar 4, 2019 · I have finally finished turning the WR into a lightweight adventure bike - I will ride the Colorado Discovery Trail in the summer with it - about 800 - 1000 miles round trip. I am extremely fortunate to also have a 16 Ducati MS, 09 R1200 GS and a 12 Tiger 800.
