Jan 3, 2013 · The Super Match II is a very refined, well fit and finished version of Kimber's basic $800 pistol. The Super Match has plenty of standard features. At face value, I feel its a more attractive pistol than the Baer and its a very nice shooter. Accuracy is every bit as good as the Baer's (unless you get Baer's 1.5" option for an extra $300).

Oct 27, 2010 · I agree with BAC. I have shot the Kimber Super Match and it is different from all the other Kimber 1911s. I do think they cost to much in comparison though. I have a Les Baer SRP, an Ed Brown Class A Limited, and a Wilson Combat CQB. I would put the Super Match just behind them but not to far.

Oct 13, 2010 · Most Kimber frames are forged, some are apparently billet. Kimber uses forged barrels also. Kimber slides used to be mostly forged. My guess is that they resort to billet occasionally for special projects or things like rail frames and alloy frames so the dropped the forged marketing.

Jan 25, 2024 · For what it's worth, my experience is based on having had exactly one of each: a Springfield Loaded Champion in stainless and a Kimber Super Carry Custom. The Kimber, purchased new, had to go back to Kimber to smooth out a slight roughness in the trigger pull. Irritating that their QA didn't catch it before it left the factory, but they fixed it.
