Slide lock won't work/fully insert - 1911Forum
Jul 26, 2016 · I have a brand new Kimber Pro Carry II that I cannot get the slide lock to work or fully insert into the gun. It will fully insert into the frame all the way without the slide on, however it will not when the slide is on. I can also get the barrel end to go in fully when the slide is on.

May 23, 2011 · Are you sure you aren't pushing up on the slide stop with your support hand thumb? That is a very most common cause of a premature lock back with new 1911 shooters. Don't keep filing blindly. You can put a loaded mag in the gun with the slide off and take a look if the slide stop is intruding.

Take the gun and make the slide be held back by the slide release, carefully put in the mag of dummy rounds, and watch what area of the bullet hits the slide release. Do minor adjustments to the slide release then after.

Nov 8, 2008 · While Kimber does have a problem with their slide stops, usually the problem is that they aren't properly fitted so that when a full magazine is inserted the nose of the bullet touches the slide stop thereby causing unintended locks.
