A member of the Democratic Party, she represented the 18th district in the Kansas Senate from 2005 to 2019. [3] Kelly was elected governor in 2018, defeating Republican nominee Kris Kobach. [4]

She has made it her life's work to fight for children and families as a four-term state senator and now in her second term as the 48th Governor of the State of Kansas.
