You do this via a mobile phone with QR code, only this time when you’re prompted for which source to use, choose PayPal credit.

When you enter you debit/credit click to save the payment method and that way it will be saved to the Playstation direct website. Hopefully you can snag one during the next drop.

It's quite stupid that, for whatever reason, playstation direct and PlayStation and PSN are treated like separate entities like this. What could possibly be the reason a payment method cannot be stored on playstation direct, yet a shipping address can be saved?
