James Mitchell (February 29, 1920 – January 22, 2010) was an American actor and dancer. [1] Although he is best known to television audiences as Palmer Cortlandt on the soap opera All My Children (1979–2010), theatre and dance historians remember him as one of Agnes de Mille's leading dancers.

James Mitchell was born August 11, 1999, to Jimmy and Marcia Mitchell. Mitchell's father is a pastor and his mother played college basketball Brown University. [1] Mitchell's father appeared in Big Stone Gap, a film about set in Mitchell's hometown. [2]
