One company that has taken the leap, however, is LG, who showed off the LG UltraFine 6K display with Thunderbolt 5 ports in Las Vegas this week. The LG UltraFine 6K is an interesting choice to place the world’s most capable consumer I/O connectivity, capable of outputting to double 8K displays at 60Hz or a single 6K display at 120Hz.

The LG Ultragear GX9 45GX990A will launch along with two other brand new LG OLED gaming monitors at the CES 2025 trade show next week.

The star of the lineup is the LG UltraGear OLED Bendable Gaming Monitor (model 45GX990A ), which has a 45-inch panel with a "5K2K" resolution (5120 x 2160). This monitor can transition from completely flat to a 900R curvature within seconds.

LG has revealed a new UltraFine monitor at CES, and it features a thin display mounted on an equally slim base. It’s also the first 6K monitor to support Thunderbolt 5, as spotted earlier by MacRumors.

LG's latest UltraFine 6K Monitor could be a great display for a new M4 Pro Mac mini, but Thunderbolt 5 is not necessarily enough to get people to buy the high-spec screen.
