Thursday night's 85 to 83 loss to Texas Tech in overtime stung, but getting that close to the Elite Eight was not the rebound many expected when head coach Eric Musselman departed from the basketball program almost a year ago.

If there was a Mount Rushmore of important college basketball coaches, John Calipari would be right up there. Born in Pennsylvania, Calipari's accomplishments in basketball are as impressive as any other coach's resume.

Arkansas was up 16 points midway through the second half of its Sweet 16 game vs. Texas Tech on Thursday and appeared to be on its way to the Elite Eight. Making it to the West Regional Final would have been anther step in one of the best coaching jobs of John Calipari's career and made the Razorbacks' slow start in Calipari's first season in Fayetteville a distant memory.

Guard DJ Wagner ran down the court, dribbled the ball into traffic, and clanged a contested jumper off the side of the rim as the Razorbacks season came to a close with Calipari taking his final timeout with him to the locker room after a disappointing defeat.

Arkansas had an Elite Eight berth in the palm of its hand. Then an all-time collapse opened the door, and Texas Tech took full advantage.

Arkansas even led by 13 points with less than five minutes remaining in the Sweet 16 showdown. However, Texas Tech came back to tie the game and send it into overtime, and Darrion Williams' layup in the final seconds gave the Red Raiders the win.
