Mattel has launched a new Barbie doll just in time for Deepavali (also known as Diwali), which falls on Oct 31 in Singapore. Called the Diwali Barbie Doll, she also happens to be Mattel's first doll inspired by the Festival of Lights.

The special Barbie Diwali doll has been dressed by Indian designer Anita Dongre, who has previously made outfits for Beyoncé and Kate Middleton, to name a few.

The new doll is being scrutinized for the color of her skin, her facial features and her garb. Early reviews are Barbie-tastic.
