The state of Minnesota is entering another in a long string of summer days marred by air quality alerts. Poor air quality will continue through Saturday with lingering wildfire smoke from Canada.

Data suggests that air quality in Minneapolis ranked worse than the air in Egypt, South Korea and China. Minneapolis has the fifth worst air quality in the world, according to an air quality monitoring platform that reported its latest findings Saturday.

National Weather Service officials called an air quality alert in effect until midnight as well as a beach hazard warning.
