The Trump administration is pulling nearly $4 million in funding from Princeton University, the U.S. Department of Commerce announced Tuesday. The big picture: The cuts come days after the administration already paused dozens of Princeton's research grants following similar federal funding reviews or revocations at other Ivy League schools like Columbia and Harvard.

We believe it’s important to defend academic freedom, and that's not something that can be compromised,” the school’s president Christopher Eisgruber recently said.

The amount of funding to be paused and the reasoning behind it are yet unclear, but right-wing website The Daily Caller reported that the suspension was in relation to an open investigation of campus antisemitism.
