President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has arrived on a working visit to Tatarstan to participate in the BRICS summit, Trend reports via the Kazakh Presidential Office. During the visit, Tokayev will hold a number of bilateral meetings and will also speak at the BRICS plenary meeting in the “BRICS Plus/Outreach” format.

Originally built in the early 16th century, Kul Sharif was burnt down by Ivan the Terrible during the Siege of Kazan, which led to the fall of the Khanate of Kazan and brought Tatarstan under Muscovite control in 1552.
