A person was found dead Wednesday evening in an apartment fire in Spokane Valley. Firefighters were called to 120 N. Skipworth Street just before 8 p.m., said Patrick Erickson, Spokane Valley Fire Department spokesman. Firefighters found a fire in a first-floor apartment of the Four Oaks and the Villa where they located the body, Erickson said.

The sheriff's office said first responders provided treatment to the woman, but the woman was later pronounced dead at the scene.
