Crews with Cal Fire and Santa Cruz County have stopped forward progress of multiple brush fires that shut down northbound Highway 1 and triggered an evacuation order on the southern end of the county Monday,

Firefighters were battling several small grass and vegetation fires Monday afternoon near the Buena Vista exit of Highway 1.

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, Calif. - Firefighters responded to a 3-acre fire in Santa Cruz County, just north of Watsonville, on Monday. The fire, which started as three brush fires, was burning near Highway 1 at Buena Vista Drive and Mar Monte Avenue.
