Rich Hill became the oldest active player in baseball when he started against the Cubs in Chicago on Tuesday night after the Kansas City Royals selected the 45-year-old from Triple-A Omaha.

Pitching in his 21st season for his record-tying 14th different team, Rich Hill went five innings and gave up one earned run against the Cubs.

The Kansas City Chiefs began training camp Tuesday in St. Joseph, and Rich Hill will set a record in his first Royals start.
