State officials began discussions about potentially relocating Kamehameha III Elementary School to the Kamehameha Schools’ land in Kuʻia, Lahaina.

Officials have said the fire-damaged Lahaina elementary school can't be rebuilt on its former Front Street site. Now, Kamehameha Schools has offered land just outside Lahaina for consideration.

Since hosting community feedback sessions over the summer, the Hawai‘i State Department of Education (HIDOE) has been doing their “due diligence” in exploring options for a permanent location to rebuild the fire-damaged King Kamehameha III Elementary School,
