Governor Greg Abbott has provided an update on Texas’ ongoing response to severe winter weather impacting large portions of the state. This comes following a briefing with officials at the State Operations Center in Austin.

A messy winter storm is expected to hit large parts of North Texas starting Wednesday night, with the potential for snow, ice and sleet, and Gov. Greg Abbott is warning Texans to "stay home" and "be careful" if they live in an affected area.

The governor has directed emergency officials to prepare for below-freezing temperatures, sleet, snow, ice and freezing rain.
