The electric Ford Mustang Mach-E outsold the two-door Mustang for the first time in 2024 and now it’s moving in

Ford Mustang Mach-E is officially on sale, as the automaker opened order books on the mildly improved, yet also cheaper electric crossover today. Starting at $36,995 ($3,500 less than the 2024 model),

Ford on Thursday showed what its Mustang Mach-E electric SUV might look like as a NASCAR race car. The prototype is designed to look like a Mach-E, but is actually built around a carbon-fiber tub chassis with components from a current NASCAR Cup Series car, including the suspension, brakes, steering, and wheels, Ford said in a brief statement.

The automaker confirmed Thursday in a press release that it would send a new one-off demonstrator based on the Mustang Mach-E to the 2025 Pikes Peak Hill Climb, scheduled for late June. It follows EV demonstrators based on the F-150 Lightning pickup truck and Transit van that ran in 2024 and 2023, respectively.

Ford had a successful year at Pikes Peak last year. It brought home the overall title using its F-150 Lightning SuperTruck electric vehicle. So Ford is going to try to keep that title for 2025. But instead of a vehicle modeled on the F-150 Lightning,

Hybrids still haven't come to NASCAR and an electric race car for the series might seem even farther off, but Ford is still thinking about it.
