Motorists using the M25 are being warned of long delays at the Dartford Crossing heading north. National Highways said the Dartford east tunnel would be shut throughout the day after a "large spillage from a maintenance vehicle".

The M25 is facing severe delays this morning after a Tesco lorry burst into flames in the middle of the motorway. The incident took place between Clacket Lane and Junction 6 at around 10pm on Sunday. Video footage shows the Tesco lorry completely engulfed in flames, as huge pillars of smoke rise into the air from the burning vehicle.

National Highways says the blaze also led to the closure of the M26 westbound between junction 2A and the M25/A21.
