HBO has confirmed its casting for the Harry Potter series. John Lithgow will play Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer is Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu is Severus Snape, and Nick Frost is Rubeus Hagrid.

Casting for six major characters in HBO's upcoming 'Harry Potter' series, including Dumbledore, Snape and Hagrid have been announced.

John Lithgow will play the Hogwarts headmaster in the HBO show, with Paapa Essiedu filling the role of Severus Snape.
