Vaughn P. Drake Jr., a Kentuckian believed to be the oldest survivor of the Dec. 7, 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor, has died at the age of 106, according to his family.

The surprise attack, launched from Japanese aircraft carriers 230 miles north of Oahu, killed 2,390 American service members and civilians, according to the Pearl Harbor National Memorial website.
