Gov. Jeff Landry announced two enhanced security zones will be in effect around Bourbon Street and the Caesars Superdome throughout Super Bowl weekend.

People can expect to see more security in parts of New Orleans for the Super Bowl. Gov. Jeff Landry issued an executive order Wednesday amending the State of Emergency issued on New Year’s Day after the terror attack on Bourbon Street.

Super Bowl host New Orleans is no stranger to thousands of out-of-town revelers descending upon the city, and authorities there did not balk when asked if they would be greasing their poles. They pointed out that an annual pole-greasing party hosted by a hotel in the French Quarter is how the city kicks off Mardi Gras.

The Super Bowl has been tapped as an excuse to catch up on years' worth of overdue infrastructure improvements in downtown New Orleans, but it's also kickstarting new projects that can make living here day-to-day a bit easier,
