Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass announced the curfew on Tuesday. It encompasses a one-mile area of the city and is in effect from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. PT.

Mayor Karen Bass put a curfew in place for a portion of the downtown area of Los Angeles when she declared a local emergency as a result of the escalating protests throughout the city. The curfew remained in place for a fifth night after the "No Kings" protests wrapped in L.

"Many small businesses in the area who rely on immigrant customers have seen a significant drop in business," said Supervisor Hilda Solis.
