Detroit Police Chief Todd Bettison approved city officers wearing Detroit Lions hats with their uniforms during the team's playoff run. The announcement was posted on the department's X account Wednesday evening and follows the a similar move by the Oakland County Sheriff's department on Tuesday.

On Monday, Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard authorized his staff to wear Lions baseball caps and beanies through the playoff run. The Spirit of Detroit statue also has been attired in a Honolulu blue Lions jersey.

OAKLAND COUNTY, MI – Honolulu Blue has been added to the official Oakland County Sheriff’s Office uniform for the duration of the Detroit Lions’ playoff run.

The spirit is alive in Detroit as the Lions clinched the No. 1 seed in the NFC for the first time in franchise history after defeating the Minnesota Vikings Sunday night 31-9.
