BALTIMORE -- Brian Matusz, the left-handed pitcher who spent eight seasons in the major leagues, mostly with the Baltimore Orioles as they returned to prominence a decade ago, has died. He was 37.
Baltimore took Matusz with the fourth overall pick in the 2008 draft out of the University of San Diego and he made his major league debut a year later.
Former Orioles pitcher Brian Matusz has passed away at age 37, reports Roch Kubatko of MASNsports.com.
No cause of death was immediately revealed, and police have launched a "death investigation" after the pitcher's body was found at his Phoenix home.
