Augusta's recovery center offering Hurricane Helene disaster relief is closing Friday. The center at the Diamond Lakes Branch Library, 101 Diamond Lakes Way, will close at 5:30 p.m. The Diamond Lakes center had been open since Feb. 18, after the center moved from the Hub for Community Innovation business incubator at 631 Chafee Ave.
Kemp, a Republican, had requested the deadline extension in January. Initially, Georgia had been given a 120-day extension for FEMA applications that came to an end on February 3. FEMA had given 180-day extensions to Florida and South Carolina.
