A mom and daughter were blown away after landing a huge lottery prize, Maryland officials said. The first Powerball drawing of 2025 left them with a third-tier prize of $150,000, according to a Jan. 17 news release by the Maryland Lottery.

The winner of a $1 million Powerball ticket in Reynoldsburg let the machine pick, and it matched 5-of-5 white balls for the prize.

The Mega Millions lottery jackpot was an estimated $113 million with a cash option of $50.4 million for Friday night's drawing, according to the Mega Millions website. The jackpot was last won on on Dec. 27 when a lottery player in California won $1.269 billion - the fifth largest Mega Millions ever.
