The Dallas Cowboys have interviewed former New York Jets coach Robert Saleh in another step in the search to replace Mike McCarthy.

Brian Schottenheimer, the Dallas Cowboys' offensive coordinator, has over two decades of NFL coaching experience and a strong football pedigree as the son of legendary coach Marty Schottenheimer. He began his NFL coaching career in 1997 and has since held roles with teams like the Chargers, Jets, and Seahawks.

The Cowboys are expected to hold an interview with former New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh on Saturday, a person with knowledge of the discussions told The Dallas Morning News.

Via Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, the Cowboys are expected to interview former Jets coach Robert Saleh. It’s the first official name to emerge in the search for the successor to McCarthy. And there likely will be more than a few interviews by the Cowboys, if only to make the reality show last for as many episodes as possible.

Interviews of Saleh and Frazier would satisfy the NFL’s Rooney Rule, which requires NFL teams to interview at least two diverse candidates for head coaching vacancies. Jerry Jones has also reportedly talked to Colorado coach and former Cowboys star Deion Sanders.
