FRANKLIN, Ind. — An Alabama man, who previously called Johnson County home, was convicted Thursday for child sex crimes. Mark LaPlante, 51, of Grant, Alabama, was convicted by a Johnson County jury on Jan. 16 for two felony counts of child molestation.

Mark LaPlante, 51, was found guilty of child molesting, both as a Level 1 and Level 4 felony, by a jury in Johnson Superior Court 3. LaPlante, of Grant, Alabama and formerly of Franklin, was charged in October 2022.
