Odisha and West Bengal are preparing for Cyclone Dana, which is expected to make landfall on Thursday, October 24. The storm is likely to bring heavy rain and strong winds to the coastal areas of both states.

NDRF teams in Odisha and 14 teams in West Bengal are on standby and educational institutions have been shut, as Cyclone Dana will likely make landfall in Odisha's Puri and Bengal's Sagar Island on Thursday evening.

Odisha and West Bengal are evacuating residents from cyclone-prone areas as Cyclone Dana approaches. Schools are closed in various districts until October 25, with nearly 150 train cancellations reported.

The depression will further intensify into a cyclonic storm by October 23 and cross north Odisha and southern West Bengal coasts between Puri and Sagar Island in the early morning hours of October 25 as a severe cyclonic storm.
