A tsunami advisory has been canceled for Oregon and Washington following a strong earthquake off the coast of Russia.

Authorities said tsunami waves would reach Oregon and warned coastal residents to avoid shorelines but said it was "not a major tsunami."

The U.S. National Tsunami Warning Center canceled the Tsunami Advisory for the Oregon and Washington coastlines just after 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday.
