Egypt traditionally supported the Sudanese military during stable times. In fact, before the war started, Egyptian troops were based in a camp in northern Sudan and were initially caught up in the crisis and detained briefly by RSF before back channels secured their freedom.

The leader of the Sudanese paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, known as Hemedti, accused Egypt of being involved in airstrikes on the group's troops in a recorded speech on Wednesday.

Egypt denied on Wednesday the claims made by Commander of the Rapid Support Militia, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, in regard to the involvement of Egyptian aircraft in the ongoing battles in Sudan, calling on the international community to examine the evidence that substantiates his allegations.

Egypt denied accusations it carried out an airstrike on a paramilitary group battling Sudan’s army in the neighboring country’s civil war.
