On January 18, the team at Firefly carried out Blue Ghost’s first engine burn, firing up the lander’s thrusters and main engines in space for the first time. The engine burn brought the spacecraft closer to Earth in preparation for its upcoming maneuvers.

Blue Ghost was launched by SpaceX on January 15 and it will spend 25 days in Earth orbit. The following four days after that will be spent in lunar transit before it enters the lunar orbit. It will spend 16 more days orbiting the Moon before attempting a landing in the Mare Crisium region.

A day before sharing the clip, Firefly said that the lander had travelled more than 3,54,000 km and sent 1.4 GB of data. Blue Ghost will spend 25 days orbiting the Earth 3.5 times. It will spend four more days in lunar transit and 16 days in the Moon's orbit before attempting a touchdown in the Mare Crisium region.

A private U.S. spacecraft bound for the moon has captured stunning images of Earth one week into its flight. Still circling Earth, Firefly Aerospace’s lunar lander fired its thrusters Thursday to put it on a path to reach the moon in over a month.
