Pete Alonso, Juan Soto and Francisco Lindor homered while Clay Holmes fired seven solid innings as the New York Mets earned a 5-3 victory over the visiting Colorado Rockies on Sunday to complete a three-game sweep.

As a corresponding roster move, the Rockies have selected the contract of infielder Keston Hirua from Triple-A Albuquerque. He will wear no. 7 on his jersey and join the team in New York.

1. The Rockies are one of just two teams since 1901 to have fewer than 10 wins in their first 55 games, joining the 1904 Washington Senators. Colorado did manage to avoid the major league record, as the 1895 Louisville Colonels mustered only eight wins in their first 55 games of the year.

The Rockies have nine wins in their first 54 games of the season. It is a historically bad start. And yet somehow, that record flatters them.
