A body, believed to be missing Belfast man John George, has been found in Spain. The 37-year-old father-of-two, also known as John Hardy, disappeared while holidaying in Alicante. He was last in touch with his loved ones on 14 December and was reported missing four days later after he failed to board his flight home.

The PSNI have released a statement saying they were yesterday made aware that a body recovered in Spain is believed to be that of missing man John George.

A man has been arrested in Spain after a body was found in the hunt for missing Belfast man John George. The 37-year-old, from west Belfast, also known as John Hardy, had been on holiday in Alicante and was last in touch with his family on December 14.

The family of missing Belfast man John Hardy, also known as John George, say his body has been found in Spain. The family's solicitor, Kevin Winters, said the missing man's father, Billy George, received a call from Spanish police at about 17:00 GMT to tell them that Mr George's remains were recovered.

John George left Belfast to travel to Alicante to meet friends just before Christmas but never showed up at the airport for his return flight home on December 14
