The fourth film in the Paramount Pictures franchise has grossed a series-best $422 million in theaters and generated more than $180 million in home entertainment rentals and purchases.

Sonic the Hedgehog 4 has set its release date just days after the franchise's third instalment broke a new record. Deadline reports that the fourth film will land in cinemas on March 19, 2027, a week before the Easter holiday weekend.

We already knew it was coming, thanks to Paramount's announcement at the end of last year, but the Sonic the Hedgehog 4 movie now has a release date. It is, however, still a fair way out - with Sonic's next big screen undertaking currently not due until 2027.

Sonic has appeared in several movies over the years, but some are better than others. While there isn't a bad Sonic film, some do a better job of portraying the character and staying faithful to the source material.
