The Oregon state fire marshal on Sunday rejected misinformation saying firefighters were turned away in LA because of emissions testing for equipment.

According to Oregon and California’s fire departments, trucks were stopped in Davis, California, just outside Sacramento, for maintenance and safety checks, and those trucks continued onward. Photos and news coverage confirm that trucks from other states were assisting firefighters in Los Angeles.

Fires in Southern California are ravaging communities, requiring the help from outside agencies, but misinformation has led many astray with what’s really happening.

Fire trucks traveling from Oregon and other states to help fight the California wildfires were stopped for routine 15-minute safety checks, not emissions testing.

Officials in California and the Oregon State Fire Marshal’s office have rebutted claims that a lack of "smog certification" or needing "emissions testing" kept Oregon fire trucks from aiding with the Los Angeles fire response.

California’s call for help meant a quick mobilization for the Oregon Department of Forestry’s strike teams. Within 24 hours, six teams were en route to help tackle the blazes, and they’re making an impact according to an ODF representative on the ground in LA County.
