A man wounded by gunfire was found several blocks from where the child was killed around the same time, but officials declined to say whether the shootings were related.

An eight-year-old boy was shot and killed in Newark, New Jersey, Friday evening. An adult male was also shot during the attack near Osborne Terrace near Yates Avenue around 5:30 p.m. Police are looking for the shooter. They were taken to a hospital where the child was pronounced dead.
