Firefighters are battling several major fires that include the Palisades Fire west of Los Angeles, the Eaton Fire north of Pasadena, and the Sunset Fire in Hollywood.

Multiple wildfires fueled by fierce Santa Ana winds, have killed 10 and burned more than 35,000 acres near Los Angeles. The winds, which occur most often in the fall and winter, push dry air from over the inland deserts of California and the Southwest toward the coast, the National Weather Service said.

Last Thursday, they rolled into Los Angeles at 2 a.m. to assist in the southern part of the state. One of their white fire trucks stood out among the many red ones parked in the shadow of the famous Rose Bowl football stadium,

"We are not out of the woods yet. Please stay on guard for a fast-moving fire," the weather service's Los Angeles office warned.

The threat of powerful wind gusts, combined with bone-dry humidity, in Los Angeles on Wednesday could test firefighters who have been battling to keep monstrous fires in Los Angeles in check since last week.
