Under Carlos Tavares, the Hemi V8 was absolutely destined to disappear. Production had actually ended at the engine factory in Mexico, where the Hurricane is now built. The Hemi-powered products remaining have been using whatever stock had accumulated from before production ended.

There’s no word on performance specs, but the old 5.7-liter V8 produced 372 hp (277 kW / 377 PS) while the 6.4-liter engine cranked out 485 hp (362 kW / 492 PS). That’s not impressive anymore as the twin-turbo 3.0-liter Hurricane inline-six is expected to have outputs of 420 hp (313 kW / 426 PS) and 550 hp (410 kW / 558 PS).
