With the severe weather threat having ended across the Chicago area, attention turns to snow overnight that will make for a slippery morning commute. Wet snow showers will increase after midnight and become widespread overnight. Snow showers may linger through 8 a.m., especially for Northwest Indiana.

Officials said there was a 60% chance of showers and a thunderstorm  possible by 2 p.m. Wednesday in portions of north central and northeast Illinois and northwest Indiana.

A band of severe weather brought tornado warnings to the Chicago area and parts of northern Illinois on Wednesday, downing power lines and knocking power out to homes. Thursday morning's commute will be chilly,

Today will be partly sunny with highs in the upper 50s and low 60s. It will be a windy day with gusts to 40-45 mph possible.

A calm and mild finish to the week.

Chicago will warm into the upper 50s today, but strong winds and incoming rain tonight will lead to a cooler, unsettled weekend.
