Snow, wintry mix, rain pummel North Texas but system expected to move out Friday
After several days of freezing temperatures, snow, sleet and rain fell in North Texas on Thursday, bringing travel disruptions in the air and on the ground, school closures and upending a region that doesn’t often see frozen precipitation.
Wintry mix of snow, sleet, freezing rain and rain expected Friday
Snow will remain the predominant precipitation type much of Friday morning, but toward midday a switch over to some sleet and/or freezing rain is likely generally south of the Tennessee River. Some rain may also mix in through the afternoon as surface temperatures go just above freezing.
Wintry Mix Expected Beginning Friday Afternoon
Snow and sleet are expected Friday afternoon into the evening hours. Mixed precipitation will then spread northward Friday night into Saturday including transitions to sleet, freezing rain, and some all rain. Total snow and sleet accumulations range from a dusting up to 3 inches, highest along and north of I-85.
