In a goalie rotation determined by playing the hot hand, two of the Detroit Red Wings' three options came out cold in a 6-3 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins

Red Wings goalie Ville Husso still hasn’t played a 60-minute NHL game since Dec. 14. He didn’t pull his groin muscle again, but he did get pulled. Coach Derek Lalonde replaced him at 5:28 of the second period after he gave up three goals in a span of two minutes and 33 seconds.

▶ Outlook: The Wings open the season against the Penguins, who started their schedule Wednesday against the New York Rangers. The Penguins continue to be led by the Hall of Fame core of Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Kris Letang and Erik Karlsson.
