The Biden administration sanctioned the head of the Rapid Support Forces paramilitary group in Sudan, announcing the move at the same time that it determined the group was guilty of genocide.

The United States determined on Tuesday that members of Sudan's Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and allied militias committed genocide in Sudan and imposed sanctions on the group's leader over a conflict that has killed tens of thousands of people and driven millions from their homes.

The Biden administration says it has determined that Sudan's Rapid Support Force rebel group and proxies are committing genocide in the country's civil war.
