UFC 319: Carlos Prates and Lerone Murphy deliver rare spinning back elbow KOs in back-to-back fights
In the third fight of the main card, Carlos Prates hammered Geoff Neal with a spinning back elbow to the head for a KO in the final second of the first round. Neal was barely responsive on the floor as Prates began celebrating. It was the ninth spinning back elbow KO in UFC history, and Prates' UFC-best fifth KO since the start of 2024.
At UFC 319, Oleksiejczuk (21-9 MMA, 9-7 UFC) finished Gerald Meerschaert (37-19 MMA, 12-12 UFC) with punches 3:03 into their three-round middleweight bout on the prelims Saturday at United Center in Chicago.
It was nearly seven years between UFC fights for Joseph Morales, but he refused to let his second opportunity slip away. In the UFC 319 preliminary card opener Saturday, Morales (13-2 MMA, 2-2 UFC) dominated the heavy favorite Alibi Idiris to win "The Ultimate Fighter 33" flyweight tournament.
Middleweights Baisangur Susurkaev and Eric Nolan were added to the card in the featured prelim slot for their official UFC debuts. Susurkaev was a first-round winner on the Contender Series just four days ago while Nolan arrives having won four straight and eight of 11 overall in the Cage Fury Fighting Championships promotion.
In the UFC 319 main card opener, Elliott (21-13-1 MMA, 10-11 UFC) pulled off the upset when he finished former RIZIN champion Kai Asakura (21-6 MMA, 13-3 UFC) with a guillotine choke at the 4:39 mark of Round 2 at United Center in Chicago.
