Shigeru Miyamoto explained that the unexpected delay, likely to disappoint many The Legend of Zelda fans, was due to “production reasons.”

“ The Legend of Zelda ” live action movie will move from March to May 7, 2027, Sony and Nintendo announced. The new date was freed up when “Avengers: Secret Wars” moved to Dec. 17, 2027. Originally set for March 26, 2027, “Zelda” series creator Shigeru Miyamoto said in a statement it would shift several weeks later “for production reasons.”

The film was originally slated for a March 26, 2027 release date – so less than two months ain't too bad. A live-action, feature-length adaptation of The Legend of Zelda was announced back in 2023, with Wes Ball at the helm. Nintendo randomly dropped the initial March release date via their new app earlier this year.
