The tornado was one of several that hit Southeast Texas over the weekend. Porter Heights was among the hardest hit.

The tornado was on the ground less than half a mile and caused limited damage, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

The state of Texas may have just experienced its longest-track tornado in nearly 30 years. While the National Weather Service is still surveying damage from the tornado, all indications are that it touched down Saturday with a path length of at least 85 miles, and probably closer to 100 miles.

A tornado that touched down in Brazoria County, Texas, struck some homes and other structures on Saturday, the authorities said. It was a day of tornado warnings in Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi.

At least two died as a severe weather system continued to move east, threatening to whip up tornadoes in parts of the U.S. Southeast.
