Border 2 Fire initially started 1:58 p.m. Jan. 23 in San Diego County. After being active for three days, it has burned 6,625 acres. A fire crew of 2,413 effectively contained 10% of the fire by Sunday morning. The blaze's cause remains under investigation.

The fires come as San Diego County mountains and valleys, along with other parts of Southern California, remain under a red flag warning.

Less than two weeks after the Los Angeles County fires wreaked havoc, San Diego County was met with multiple brushfires.

A brush fire that broke out near the UC San Diego campus was brought under control on January 23, the fire department said.Footage shows firefighters working to control the blaze after powerful Santa Ana winds swept across San Diego County.

Over 1,100 firefighters were “strategically pre-positioned” across Southern California to address "ongoing critical fire weather," Cal Fire said.
