As the Royal Rumble nears, WWE stars are announcing their intent to compete for the chance to get a championship match at WrestleMania.

This Saturday night, the road to WrestleMania truly begins as WWE presents the annual Royal Rumble event from Indianapolis, Indiana. Thirty women will enter the over-the-top-rope battle royal to try and earn their shot at a championship match on WWE's grandest stage in April.

Unsurprisingly, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin holds the record for eliminations in a winning Rumble, with 10 in 1997. He would toss another 10 in his other two winning efforts in 1998 (seven) and 2001 (three). Shawn Michaels eliminated eight in each of his two Rumble wins in 1995-96.

The first major event in an eight-year deal with World Wrestling Entertainment, the event is expected to draw as many as 65,000 spectators to Indianapolis, with many coming from outside of central Indiana.
