Higher minimum wage in Boulder, Colorado puts strain on local restaurants
Boulder voters approved the increase of minimum wage in the city from $14.42 to $15.57 per hour, which went into effect on Jan. 1
Starting Jan. 1, minimum wage workers in Colorado are getting a raise
Starting Wednesday, anyone earning the minimum wage in Colorado will get a 2.7% raise. The new minimum wage will be $14.81 per hour, up from $14.42 in 2024. Minimum wage for tipped workers can be $3.02 less than the regular minimum wage. In 2025, it will increase to $11.79 per hour, up from $11.40.

The first day of 2025 brings with it a bump in pay for minimum wage workers in the City and County of Denver, Boulder, Boulder County and Edgewater.

There are 21 states that will be raising the minimum wage on Wednesday — affecting approximately 9.2 million workers. In addition, 48 cities and counties have passed their own minimum wage increases.

is increasing by 39 cents an hour, starting January 1, 2025. That will bring it to $14.81 an hour for jobs that don’t receive tips and $11.79 for those that do.
